Booktalk Thursday--Eve and Adam by Michael Grant and Katherine Applegate

Eve & Adam.jpg

Seventeen-year-old Evening (Eve or EV for short) Striker nearly lost her leg in a car accident. Luckily for her, her mother (the wealthy, formidable and powerful owner of Striker Biopharmaceuticals) has the perfect place for Eve to recover—her research facility. While recovering, Eve meets a cute guy named Solo who lives and works at the facility. A friendship (and possible attraction) between the two develops and Solo decides to share all of the shady information he’s discovered about Striker Biopharmaceuticals with Eve. One of the scientists discovers that Solo and Eve know about the secret projects they're working on and will do anything to keep them quiet. There’s only one thing for them to do. Run.

Popular authors (and husband & wife team) Grant and Applegate have joined forces to create a gripping bio-thriller that's sure to keep readers glued to the pages. Here’s hoping this is the start of a brand new series!

Booktalk Thursday--Peanut by Ayun Halliday & Paul Hope

Peanut.jpg

This is the story of a girl who tells a big fat lie.

Meet Sadie. She’s a sophomore and is moving to a new community, a new school AGAIN. This time, however, Sadie plans to stand out. She doesn’t want to just be “the new girl.” Sadie fakes a severe peanut allergy, and talks it up all over the place so that EVERYONE knows. Her new friends and teachers are all extra cautious when it comes to food and Sadie. She completes the lie by purchasing a medical bracelet online and wearing it every day to school (but never at home so her mom doesn’t find out). When her big lie comes crashing down around her, how will her new schoolmates and teachers react?

This graphic novel is a super fun, super quick read for anyone who has considered telling a little white lie about themselves. Don’t miss it!
